From the United Kingdom, the entire process of metrication and European units of measurement directives had been predicted to remove using the pound and ounce, but in 2007 the European Commission deserted the necessity for metric-only labelling on packaged merchandise there, and allowed for dual metric–imperial marking to continue indefinitely.[1
